Anyone any ideas on how to de gunge a radiator? Is there a reccomended solution to put in and dissolve the accumulated crud?
Its not actually a Minor I'm asking about, otherwise I'd just get a recon radiator and fit that, and recoring is an expensive last resort option.

Drain cleaner - but not if it's an alloy engine or head! And don't leave it in there too long. Or just repeated flushings with water from a hose.

I used BARS rad flush, have thrown the empty bottle away, so can't give more details. It looks like gravy granules, you leave it between 2 & 48 hours, then flush again. Seems to do the job well.

Thanks guys.
I'll have a go with something over the weekend. The engine waterways seem ok, as I had the side plate off the water jacket to look (easier than fetching the radiator off so I tryed it first), but the rad tubes that are visible through the filler cap do seem a bit blocked...

Kettle descaler works well but it sounds as though you would have to leave it in there for some time. It does not attack rubber etc.
