If Onne and I can clear out and demolish an old shed, and build a new one in pouring rain, sticking your head under a bonnet should be childs play

didn't need my coat - my top half was under the bonnet...
My jeans are however, rather cold and damp

It didn't stop raining for more than a few minutes at a time, but at least I got a few jobs done today.
I would have worked on the cars at the weekend - but I couldn't see them...

Oh dear, we are paying paid for a dry April. Perhaps it will brighten up soon. Still it could be worse one of my engineers has taken his young family to Cornwall for a holiday this week!

has taken his young family to Cornwall for a holiday this week
Such a shame.
It's make or break in that part of the world unfortunately. The rain puts a dampner on it for the kids but at least the adults have more excuse to sit inside and have more cream teas.
Best advise I can give for Cornish holidays at this time of the year is to get as far west as you can. when I lived Redruth I had a good view from where I worked. Day after day I would see broken cloud and sunshine to the west and building cloud and rain to the east.

Maybe not but it dilutes the tea

Tea was very diluted again this evening, but hopefully I've cured the incontinence on the Pickup (Claudia) and on the Vectra too.
The pickup needed a new heater control valve (intermittent major leak approx 1 litre per 10 miles...) all sorted very quickly.
The Vectra had a hole in a core plug - right behind the manifold

Only one manifold stud sheared off in the head, and I did both core plugs behind the manifold without major hassles + I'm now very well practiced at removing the radiator (4 times in 4 weeks :? )
So I'm back up to a full contingent of useable cars again... Although the Land Rover clutch hydraulics probably only have a few miles left
After just 8 days driving the Pickup I'm amazed with how much attention it's getting - not to mention how good the exhaust fart is!

It's the noisiest exhaust overrun I've ever had
I managed to get almost half a mile of fart down a long hill - although the small cloud of smoke afterwards was something I could have lived without

You don't fancy upping my working vehicle quotient do you Ray? At best I'm at 50%, but that's only if you take the Minor's valid MOT and Tax and apply them to the 'zed's more-or-less working state. Currently we're at:
Viva - awaiting electronic ignition but currently more or less running (but soon will require an MOT which will need some welding. Anyone want to weld a Viva for me?).
Minor - awaiting money for major engine works, sorting out the rust around the rear wheel arches, ideally also doing a number of other minor jobs that have been neglected for the last 5 years.
Cherry MZ - awaiting me reattaching the mirrors, the battery and getting an MOT and Tax. Then I need to sort out the leaking base gasket which causes it to pee out oil from the join between the cylinder head and the gearbox casing.
Charlie MZ - needs lots of wiring and puting together, and then an MOT and Taxing.
Some days I don't entirely feel like I'm winning

yup - I know what you mean...
Everytime I get a car fixed, I have a tendency to sell it and then get another car (which proves itself to be in need of TLC within the first few days!) At least selling cars that are working well and buying cheap ones isn't the most expensive hobby in the world, but having 3 or 4 cars that should be roadworthy, but having to get to and from the auto-parts shop by pushbike in the rain isn't often smile-inducing

Despite the (expected) teething trouble with using the pickup (before servicing it!) it has been fun fun fun. The exhaust trumpet makes up for the undersize doors and all the looks and nice comments make up for the break-downs!

I've been really shocked at the reaction to Brick; I still think of Viva's as the scabby second car that your neighbours still had in the late 80s, despite it being a rust bucket (ours was a Fiat 125, and for a while our Mark II Escort).
But it seems to be almost universally loved. I get pointed at, waved at, people talk to me at traffic lights, it's quite bizzare. Of course, the fact it needs a floor is beginning to get a little pressing, what with the MOT approaching.
On the plus side the bike goes for it's MOT tomorrow and I've now worked out why it's pouring two stroke oil out the engine. Not fixed it, you understand, but I know *why* ;-)

Well you can tell it's a bank holiday weekend!!!! I had my weekend planned to the second until I woke up this morning

I went out yesterday and got new felt, nails and seaming compound to re-felt my garage roof as it's more than slightly pourous now. Only to awake to rain

It had better not be raining tomorrow or me and God will be havin' words

Tell me about it. the rains trying to get in the gaps between the mortar granuals at the mo
We went out in the missus car yesterday and had to put up with a torrent of water coming in through the (shut) sunroof. So that's sharing the car port with Albert at the mo. As it's only long enough for 1 1/2 cars anyway that gives me no room whatsoever to work in.

When it rains I work on my loft, when its dry I work on the morris.
Suppose its my own fault. More than 10 minutes infront of the telly and I start getting itchy fingers and need to do something.
