Oil pressure adjuster

I can see how this works on a good condition engine. But with worn bearings and a slack pump the max pressure isn't controlled by the bypass spring. Am I missunderstanding it?

Hello Roger,
the pressure is determined by the pump capacity and the flow rate, on a worn engine the flow rate will be higher and can exceed the pump capacity so the pressure drops. Although from cold, as the oil is at it's thickest I guess that the pressure relief valve will still open.

Waste of money ! Not needed at all.

Hello Roger,
I totally missed the link, but looking at it I really can't see the point. The original pressure relief valve is designed and gives the pressure required.

We are all agreed then. I wasn't going to buy one just put it up out of interest.
