Door top attachment question

Hi all,
on the underside of the door top near the quarterlight, there's a bolt/stud fitted that goes into the door. If this has sheared during removal of the door top from the car, how can it be replaced?
I haven't had a chance to try, but I'd imagine I could drill out the attached remnant of the bolt and then put another in there. Any other tips/suggestions?
