Thank you both. What is a thief going to do with such a distinctive car?

Really sorry to hear about your loss. Time we had firing squads for pondlife that do this.
Have you any photos that you could post on this site and any distinctive features of the vehicle apart from the colour, which of course could change?

Here are some more details:
Chassis No. M/ATS1195978
Engine No. 10MA.U.H276325
I'm still working on photos
Most distinctive feature (after it has been resprayed and had new plates) is probably the beige hood. It's rather wobbly after all these years, and doesn't tuck in very well. Above the driver's door the metal frame has worn through the vinyl - it would need patching/replacing soon.
Chromework is pitted, and the hubcaps (painted cream) are a bit corroded. There is a chip (now rusting) on the bottom corner of the passenger door. Otherwise it's in good condition.
Essex/East Anglia members might remember it as Philip Fernyhough's car which was shown at rallies quite a bit in the early 90s. I inherited it from my dad when he passed away in 1997. This car is so connected for me, emotionally, with my dad - losing it is like losing him all over again.

Apologies, I don't know how I missed replying to this. I have not heard anything, I'm afraid, and have rather given up.
One other bit of information is that the registration number was etched into the windows as a security measure.
All best and many thanks for your support.
