Okay, if it's possible (which it may not be), I am thinking of getting something very small, very naff, and very, very silly for a laugh to drive purely for giggles. It needs to be incredibly cheap to purchase (under five hundred quid) and preferably pre-1972 for obvious tax purposes, although I'd consider something later. Oh yes, and with a current MOT.
Absolutely anything really daft would do, but I'm having trouble finding anywhere other than eBay that might have something. I'm really after something for the novelty value for driving to the shops in! And not in scrappable condition, either! Just something to blast (or tootle) around in for a bit of fun, and maybe in reasonable enough condition to scrape through an MOT for the next couple of years before I get bored or can't afford to fix it and decide to scrap it or sell it on.

Any ideas/help much appreciated. I'm fully aware that this may be mission utterly impossible!

Depends what you mean by a 'microcar'. Trouble is some of the true classic microcars are very collectable and cost an arm and a leg - BMW Isettas (the silly ones with the door at the front) go for silly money. I sat in one at a show once and even when stationary it didn't feel all that stable.

The only one I can possibly think of that might fit the bill would be the Bond minicar but I still doubt you'd get a good one for under 500 quid. They also have 3 wheels so probably aren't much fun to drive apart from as a novelty now and again. The Berkeley looks very nice and can come with 4 wheels but again I doubt 500 quid would buy you very much of one.

A Reliant Robin might be a bit of a laugh though (until you meet Mr Bean)

You mentioning Mr Bean Chris reminds me of a child at the primary school where I work, he calls me Mr Bean because I drive a 63 4 door to work evey day poor confused child

Well, it was just an idea to get something bizarre, I have a taste for oddities. The more bonkers it is the better - even a project car and an evening course in mechanical tinkerings (which I've been meaning to get around to later this year anyway), might be acceptable.

I really should just ignore these silly ideas I keep getting!
