Last night I took the Stainless Door Top off a door that I was given yesterday, not too much of a problem as the door was in poor condition, what I would like to know is there a set way to dismantle the frame as I just undid all the fixings and wiggled it free, however at the front it was very tight due to the front fixing bracket at the bottom, should I have dismantled the top part of the frame first, indeed do you need to do this to enable just the glass to be removed. All thoughts and ideas gratefully recieved.

After taking out the handles, interior panelanf undoing the bolts forthe frame, Haynes say...
"Wind up the window intil it is possible to disengage the window winder arm from the lift channel. The window, complete with the surround can them be lifted clear from the car."
This is true but but not that simple. But no you don't need to take the top frame apart.

Well I took it out without the glass, but this still does not help with the lower front fixing that is very tight on the door top opening, I just wondered if taking it apart would make it easier to remove as I imagine that if you have good paintwork there is a good possibility of damaging it
