Alternator Conversion Help!

I have just fitted an alternator kit to the car - what a job to get the pulleys to line up - not impressed with the quality of the sliding bracket either.
The kit came with a wiring kit and I was also changing the car from + earth to neg earth. The warning light will now not go out.

I started by diconnnecting the F and D ternminals from the control box - brn/grn and thick brn/yell. There is a new comnnector/wiring kit to the back of the alternator and I fitted this next. The thick brn and thin brn from the alternator kit were connected to the battery side of the solenoid and the thin brn/yell from the alternator to the old brn/grn that went to the dynamo.
I then swopped battery terminals and the same with the coil terminals to make it neg earth.

I think I followed the instructions. The ones I got with the kit were slightly different from the MMOC ones. The connections all seem to be fine.

Help!

I have just checked my wiring.

Large brown x2 brown/blue x2 large yellow x1 all linked together.

thin yellow/green joined to thin yellow

large yellow comes from alternator as does the thin yellow.

hope this helps.

Thanks for taking the time to have a look. . I eventually figured out that I had to still connect the two wires together that I had disconnected from the control box. All seems to be working fine now. Thanks.

I am mid alternator instillation (using modified moggie bits as brackets) but when I try to connect the brown, 2 brown/blue and bigger of the 2 yellow wires (and a black and white wire that connects to the lighting circuit box) I get a spark. Is this to be expected, or have my car got some creative wiring :)

When I got the spark I had not connected the alternator yet (it is a 2 wire thing that has been hiding in my shed for a while :))

Any ideas? Thanks
John

 I tracked it down and (I think) it was the trickle power to the CD player

All connected and running. Not bad, as I recycled bits of morris for the brackets, and the alternator was just kicking around :D :D
