Vacuum Gauge ????

I have a vacuum gauge fitted on my moggie.Sorry for sounding a bit thick, but what does this actually measure ?

The strength of the vacuum in the inlet manifold. More vacuum indicates better fuel economy.

It measures the vacuum in the inlet manifold. One of its uses is as a guide to economical driving, more vacuum = better economy. Generally what this means is using the least throttle opening you can for the speed you want.

I would imagine that it is marked with a coloured scale, in which case you should aim at keeping the needle in the green area as much as possible.
