Hi this has nothing to do with minors ( and b4 anyone says then why ask I know this site has a wealth of knowledgeable members) I want to convert a 3 phase electric motor to a single phase 240vs using a capacitor I did have a diagram on how to do it put some how I have manage to lose it. Its a 5 amp rating. (this might be a Q for Alec)

You're talking about a static phase converter, essentially a capacitor start circuit that gets a three phase motor to run on single phase with a reduced power output. I really wouldn't recommend building one yourself unless you're very sure of what you're doing, as you could easily kill yourself with the stored charge in the capacitors. Another way of doing it is to build a rotary phase converter from a big three phase motor - essentially you power one of the windings from the single phase supply and it induces the other phases as it spins. There's a lot of information about them on this page.
I've heard that it's possible to do away with the capacitor start circuit in a rotary converter if you start it by hand (eg. with a pull cord) as soon as you switch it on.
