fuses

i have a 1964 morris 1000 and the electrical circuit may have gone. but i was messing with the fuses and now everything works wipers lights the lot. what would you suggest?? maybe checking the fuses first. if so are there only two.

clean up the fuse box, it often get covered in grime and results in electrics failure.
take the fuses out and a little emery paper against the metal to remove rubbish and give good contact, same on the fuse caps and refit. Often works wonders.

I only know the later cars, but on those the contacts at the ends of the fuses (in the fuse box) are a notorious weak point. Try cleaning them with 'paper so they're bright anf shiny, and maybe bending themn slightly so that they grip the fuse better.

There are only two fuses on the fuse block but the later cars also have an in-line fuse holder dangling just below the fuse block which is for the side lights only. The headlights are NOT fused so, if you are saying that the entire electrical circuitry was' dead' when you had the fault you will need to check the thickish Brown wire which goes from the starter solonoid to terminal 'A' on the Control Box.
