I thought it might be interesting to know if any of you have plans for Drive It Day this Sunday. Perhaps you might even consider writing a piece on it for Minor Matters :D

Go on then, I'll be first to make myself look stupid....

What is 'Drive It Day' ?

No such thing as stupid questions, only questions. Basically it's a day initiated by the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs, to make a clear statement showing the strength of feeling about our freedom to continue classic motoring.

The East Kent branch are doing a "drive it day" in support of the FBHVC increasing the visibillity of classic cars to the public (and hopefully staving off damaging legislation).

BTW, my car is not just my hobby, its regular transport sharing the duty along with my "other" car ("modern classic").

We will be driving through East Kent in convoy, complete with St George cross flags.

And, yes, if you like I can write a story complete with pictures for the national club magazine.

My converible is my regular transport, and I honestly believe that if we could get more on the road in regular use, this would make 'Drive It Day', and its purpose, an everyday occurrence.

Well done, I hope you have a good day, and yes, please submit your article.

Well said Bill, I'm not sure where I'll end up at yet as there is so much going on in this area but I will be out and about  Just had my usual drive it day ..again.. as the wife says, only 70 mile today :-?

What a shame Lynda, I'm going to pop into the one at Shildon, about 50 mile North of York.. I've been told it's better than the one at York but I'll let you know, there is a show on the afternoon I'm going to not far from there ... BTW, are you going in the Moggy ?

Oh.. nearly forgot I decided to take the 'extra ' long way home and give the Moggy a good blast, on the A road passing through Swainby, I met a Moggy coming the other way, Pale blue in colour... we managed a wave but I think we were both in shock seeing another Moggy.... anyone on here ??

I haven't been to the railway museum in York since I was 10, so it seemed like a good excuse to go and have a look round again :D

I'm not taking my ex police car, but I'll be in my other Moggy! I just have to make sure I get home from York before dark - one of my headlights stopped working yesterday.

I feel quite strongly about the viability of classic cars and always make a point of answering any 'critics' I meat.

Everytime someone I know has to book a dealer 'service' or pay a fortune to a garage for a supposedly simple job I make it my duty to gloat over how the same thing on a Minor takes me half hour with a spanner and some warm tea.

I want to do something for Drive It Day.... but I don't know what....

I don't fancy schlepping all the way to Crich for the Morris Minor Day, so what do I do?

Anyone know of anything going on around Worcestershire?

You don't necessarily have to take part in an organised event, just make sure you use your car on the day :D

There should be a few other cars there from the North Lincs branch. I'm not sure about ones from the Lincoln branch as I missed the last meeting. Don't just come on my account though - I'm bringing one of my friends who wants to go a museum in York to see their mosaic, so I'll be disappearing off with her for a while at least! She's doing her dissertation on mosaics. I'm doing my dissertation on St Pancras Hotel, and the railway museum have the original documents from the company that built it.... but it's all in an inacessible store until December :-?

Gareth wrote:I want to do something for Drive It Day.... snip ...Anyone know of anything going on around Worcestershire?
Your only about 4 miles from me Gareth, we could get a local gathering and do a run out somewhere, sort of spur of the moment type thing. I might even convince a couple of neighbours to join with their MGBGT and Singer summit-or-other :D
