Hello Everyone.

Now my 1970 trafagar blue moggy needs some touching up doing here and there.
from info passed on to me from the message board Iam not advised to buy spray paint.

In Sheffield we have a big special Dulux centre, could I take the glove box of and take it to the counter and say I would like this for painting my moggy,
Also is there a special name for paint that go`s on metal & do I need a undercoat ?.

Best Wishes Paul

You have to be very careful as the car is most probably painted
with cellulose. It certainly won't be painted with Dulux!! this is
quite likely to interact with the original paint and produce horrible
results! Touch up spray cans are by far the easiest way to spruce
up areas.....the skill is in the careful masking off of all the areas
which you DO NOT want to be painted.

The paint that goes on bare metal is called etch primer, as it reacts with the metal to form a bond which does not chip as easy as normal primer. After this, then you will need a primer or high build primer (if you have got imperfections to hide!!) then top coat. Not forgetting to flat the primer where neccesary.
