fuel pump filter

Post by steve4063 »

i was told when i bought the car it may have a dodgy fuel pump i took the filter out and it was filthy loads of bits in it.

could this be the cause and if so how do i go about refurbishing it or cleaning it etc.

thanks

Just flush it out - and check it again from time to time. Fortunately SU carb is very tolerant of 'bits' in the fuel - don't usually cause any problems. However - the bits are probably rust flakes from the inside of the fuel tank - so a new tank may be needed if the bits keep on coming!
