I'm trying to carefully and without damaging them, remove the wings from Joemog. One one the wing bolt at the top rear (nearest the windscreen corner) seems to rotate without coming free. Presumably the captive nut is turning but there doesn't seem to be anyway to access it. Strange really because the inner and outer wings are in really good shape.
Anyone got any ideas?

lots of penetrating oil. Try a bit of heat. Then do what I did;

Rip it out of the body with a crow bar and repair it afterwards!

I expect someone will have a better idea??????

I have an angle grinder you can borrow ;-)

get a spanner on it....and then get a screwdriver behind the bolt and lever it out so the nut is being pulled towards the metal and getting gripped and carry on turning the nut....that bolt you cant get access to from inside so you are limited to what you can do with it or do what rogerrust says

I ground mine out, had the same problem with my front wings, all bolts turned except the top ones under windscreen. I struggled with heat, penatrating oil and every other trick in the book. But the grinder is more fun, much quicker, you dont skin your nuckles (if you have any left ) and the bonus is you get the wing off.

A grinder is all very well but how do I get it up to that remote bolt without putting a hole through an A1 wing or taking all my fingers off!!!!

OK I've just had a look at mine.

Use a 1mm cutting disc
Remove all the other bolts gently pull the wing away from the inner wing and cut down the gap. (I'll post a picture later)

Then install a riv nut just next to it and the drill a new hole in the wing

I haven't tried these but they look good make sure you drill a clean hole to make a good fit for the rivit nut.

I didn't make that very clear I should have said cut down from the top of the wing.
There will be some sort of sealer/filler in the gap try and cut through there.

and from the side I pushed the disc down the gap I have'nt put the sealer in yet.

With the rivit nut thing I think you can upset it ( I think thats the word they use) by drilling a hole in a stout bit of steel and the push it against the flange and tighten the bolt to squash it up like a pop rivit.

I have only ever used brass or aluminium rivnuts but I guess the steel ones are the same only require more force to fix them.

You can get them on ebay only I spelt in wrong first time it is rivEt not rivIt !!! Search for "rivet nut"

You can get them in 8mm which should be big enough.

By the way just in case you think I've missed a bit of rust in the centre of this picture. Its just the reflection of the disc in the shinny paint!!

Although I have to admit I went and checked!

I'll have to tell PaulK the good news that, yes, he might be getting the wings he paid for after all. But, he might have to use the grinder (his grinder) himself if he wants them
