B series engine, just a thought....

Recently replaced the head gasket on my b series engine in my moggy. Now what other head could be fitted to this engine to improve power without much in the modification side of things?

How about an engine swap? What I mean is that I've heard of B series conversions, but what about O-series, M-series or even T series seen as they're all evolutions of the humble B-series!

Not sure if i'm brave enough for an engine swap :-/
Had to pluck up the courage to do the head gasket ;) but is a good idea though. I like the idea of it standard on the outside but have something unsuspecting under the bonnet

It already is non-standard if it has a 1622 B series! Obviously the bigger valve head from the later MGB engine will fit - although you will need to make pockets in the block to clear the valves. All the MGB tuning stuff can be fitted - twin carbs/fancy exhaust/camshaft change - or indeed fit a complete 1800 (or even bored out 1950) MGB block. But the engine you have should be good for 100 bhp with the right bits screwed on.

Just fit a complete MGB engine - they vary slightly over the years from 3 bearing to 5 in around 1963/4, then some internal mods after this - check out an MGB site. What gearbox are you using just now?, as MGB clutch is a bit bigger and I had to relieve the bell housing of my Riley 1.5 box to allow it to work.
I really wouldn't bother modding your current engine as you will gain around 23 hp with an MGB one - plus it is stronger and with more torque - oh and very cheap - check out Ebay.
I have a proper 3 branch manifold for a B series in a Minor should you require this.
