Hello there!
I registered on this forum last year but due to GCSE's and other things i have not had a chance to post for a while. However, things are now looking up and having completed a motorcycle restoration im looking for something i can tinker with and get on the road for my 17th birthday in january next year! I have been particuarly fascinate with minors ever since i found the remains of one in a hedge last year!
So, where do i start, what do i look for? etc etc

thanks

A wise choice :D It would be easier to suggest where to look if we had some idea of the scale of the project you want. Are you thinking of getting a runner with MOT, a basket case, or something in between?

Also have a look at the buyers guide as that will help avoid some of the pitfalls of new ownership.

Get an experienced 'old hand' to inspect any car you are considering.

Ideally im looking for a good solid base on which to build a small, understated hot rod style moggy. A nicely modded A series engine, with disc brakes and decent suspension. A nice red paint job and a bit of body work here and there. Nothing too fancy, i dont want to ruin a minor irreversibly! Id like to stress at this point that i am far from scared of getting my hands dirty!
Luckily my father spent most of his teens to early 20's working in a garage on moggys, wolseleys and the likes so he pretty much knows what to look for.

Dont worry to much as you can get most things to put things right, as for taking an old hand with you, I,m one and I bought what I though was a good van, but I,ve spent three months of solid weekends getting it to a state I considered safe, after all its my bum thats sat in there.
Good luck with the hot rod I,ve been into them for forty yep forty years now.
