I got the info from Ray Newell's book so I'm assuming it's correct :-?

Some cars provided to the police were plain white and vans, travellers and 4 doors were in trafalgar blue apparently. Don't recall seeing any police cars in clipper blue.

I'm sure someone more knowledgable will be along soon Andrew

I can only comment on Police LCVs, these were various Blues and I guess the cars were other than the 'standard' Panda

Car colour.

Hi All,
I'm a new member.
Need some help please. Recently bought a 68 F reg two door saloon.
I asked the chap I had the car off what the colour was, he said it
was "light blue/grey" I can't find this colour mentioned at any of the spares places. On the colour chart the nearest is Smoke Grey, but
my car looks to be a pale blue.
Thanks for any help.
Keith.

Yes it sounds like Smoke grey (which is BMC's name for Pale Blue)!

I believe that there are 2 shades of Smoke Grey though, so be careful. Is also depends on whether your car car been re-sprayed recently, it may have been sprayed in 2 Pack which is slightly different again. The previous owner would know. Hope this helps. :D

Definatly Traffy.

Think thats the lighter version. But don't quote me on it - it can be quite hard to tell from a pic as different cameras and light conditions can play havoc

That is 1950 - 52 Thames Blue, ICI paint code 2382. No BMC code available.
Another project will be to photograph as many different coloured Series MMs as I can find.

What year is your car? It looks like it might be sage green, which was used on saloons between May '56 and March '59. It could however have been resprayed at some point so may not be the original colour. The best way to get a good paint match when just respraying a panel is to take a sample to somewhere that will be able to mix you some paint to match it.
