What profile of tyre should I be looking for?
Are these suitable?

If so it looks like we can get quality 145 again

If I rember correctly, normal tyres have an aspect ratio of 82%. The /80, /70 etcmean that you have the same tread width, but the profile is narrower, creating a smaller circumference.

Size wise they are fine.
However....
These were designed for the 3L Lupo (car not available in UK) which was the most fuel efficient production car ever produced. It did approx 92mpg (100km on <3L of diesel) and came out ~7 years ago incorporating extensive use of new technology. (I worked on some of the transmission auto-shift components).
The tyres were very special to have very low rolling resistance - the pay off is that they have very poor grip!!!
I am amazed to see they have come down in price, but I suppose the tooling is now old and they need to sell some volume before they stop production.
If you're feeling brave, I'd love to know how they felt on a Minor (especially as they are a sensible price) , but there's a risk that you'll not like them as much as other tyres.

They're the type I bought - nobody said anything about poor grip when I asked about them on here a while ago.
They don't look anything like that picture though. Here's one of mine:

Most Minor tyres have almost no grip anyway! And beware - these are only good for 118 mph ! They look great although not the cheapest tyre on the market.

That photo on mytures is never of a 145/80 tyre.
What speed rating do you have on your tyres, BMC? I'd say a T-rated tyre will be absolutely fine for a Minor - 118 mph is >30mph over the top speed, and if it you're going faster then you're not going to be running on 145-section tyres anyway. At least, I hope not.

One or two horsepower? What speed rating? W (walk), T (trot) or G (gallop)?

I have those Bridgestone tyres on the front of my Minor (Bull Motif sell them, I think) and they grip much better than the old Uniroyals.

Is there any difference between the Bridgestones and Firestone? I didn't think much of the Firestones I had on, about as much as the budget NanKang I have on now.

As far as I am aware Viking don't sell them in 145/14
I find the new Bridgestones a tad too soft on corners, maybe I'll but some more air in
