Windows Keep Falling Down + Much Rattling

I have a 59 4 door. The drivers side and occasionally the passenger windows start falling down when driving along especially where its a little bumpy. I assume its just down to wear in the mechanism. Is there anything i can tighten / easily replace. I have fitted new weather strips to both and side window seals to the drivers window, with no change. Otherwise its elastic bands to hold the window winders in place

Mine does this too - it's called 'through flow ventilation'.

I find it helps if you put the handles on so that if you push down on them from above the window closes not opens.
I hope this makes sense, its a bit hard to describe.

Just had another thought about the rattling this time. Is the felt strip on the sides of the window in its proper place i.e. all the way to the top of the door.
Over time it like to succumb the force of gravity which uncovers the frame screws at the top. This causes a very nasty rattle.
I have had cars where the felt has slid all the way down into the bottom of the door.
If it has slid down tweak the top ends out and gently pull on them while winding the window up and down an inch or so. A dab of glue might help to keep them in place.
I had to put some carpet tape over the frame screws on my car as it would still rattle even with the felt in place.

The felt is slighlty down so i will try some tape. Would it be woth trying to pack the felt out slight so it holds the glass more firmly?

I don't think the felt plays much part in keeping the window up. But it does stop the window rattling.
Try shaking the window around by hand and see what it touches, then you can work out how to proceed.
The trick with the way the winder is put on works very well and should stop the windows dropping.

How easy is it to remove the winder mechanisum and turn it round.

The regulator (mechanism) should be perfectly capable of holding teh glass up without extra friction from the seals etc so long as it's in good condition.

It's a bit of a pain to remove the regulator IIRC, and really a pain to turn things around (as in, drill out rivets, re-rivet etc from what I can remember).

I'm sure I remember seeing a big coil of springyness on the regulators I've taken off, I imagine this must help with things so it might be worth checking that hasn't broken (I have distant memories of either a Triumph or Mini with a broken one that wouldn't keep the window up, but I could be wrong).

I also have a feeling the spare ones I had in a box might have been chucked as I don't remember seeing them recently. Though given I hardly ever chuck anything, that's either sods law or they're hiding in a dark corner somewhere around here..
