Anybody got any thoughts on the easiest / best way to run a single extra wire from the dashboard area to the back end of a traveller for a new high-intensity fog light?

It already has a reversing light, but the wiring for that appears to have been done professionally, inside a bound harness with the rest.

I'd really like to avoid dismantling the whole car if possible .

I sort of feel that there ought to be some ingenious way of using the existing wiring if there is any redundancy there, but my brain won't cope with the concept .

there really is no spare wire in the harness (its minimal to start with!)

so 2 choice are available.....

1: follow original wiring under the car and back in through the boot floor.

2: find a route to tuck it under the carpet inside, which might be less messing about. either follow a sill line, or the prop tunnel? guess its what ever works best for you.

if you can get the car up a little, say on ramps, then its not too difficult to follow the original wires.

I ended up following the original wiring ouside the car while I had it up on stands to do the speedo cable (separate post).

I didn't realise that the harness ran outside the car underneath. It must get pretty mucky under there on some cars.

I managed to tuck the new wire behind the clips that support the main harness, and used cable ties to strap it to the harness about every 9" or so, so I don't think it will come adrift.

The only trouble was that I ran out of the right colour wire part way through, so now I have an embarrassing join where there shouldn't be one.

Still the "next owner" will have something to moan about .
