Exactly the same as a modern car!!! As for adults in the car, if a car was fitted with seatbelts as standard or fitted as an aftermarket safety add-on then they
MUST be worn by law and in fully functioning condition.

Basically,
If the car was first used on or after 1 Jan 1965 requires front seat belts.
Theye are not obligatory...
However, if fitted they must pass the tests required.
(this site is a mine of information:
http://www.motuk.co.uk/manual/contents.htm)
Booster seats :-

This seems to suggest that the child must be in a correct seat - regardless of whether there is a seat belt or not (?).
There's been a lot of discussion regarding fitting elsewhere, but I'd reccommend getting belts fitted and using them. Consider the alternatives!

where to anchor front seat belts?

where would you advise to anchor seat belts in a series 2 ,4 door? Door pillars have working trafficators so not there. I have also been told that floor anchor points would weaken the floor. Is that true? I would want only inertia reel front belts.

If you contact any of the larger Minor specialists they will have the correct belts for the correct model and any reinforcing plates that are needed, the 2 doors and convertibles are different mountings to the 4 doors and Travellers.

How exactly does it work...
I have no seatbelts in the front, but I do have them in the back.
Does that still mean I don't need to have any in the front?
The ones in the back are for the rare occasion of carrying kids around
