We live in Tesco land drive Tesco cars insured with Tescos and now the day of reckoning has come.
Bring back the cars without any electronics

Funny that Roger, I was just about to mention this on your other post, that's the first thing I said to my wife when I saw all this carry on with the petrol...can't beat the old fashioned way

Any chance of a slight clue to what either of you are talking about?

All the 1000's of cars in SE of England breaking down due to cruddy Tesco petrol (and some other outlets) damaging the cars oxygen sensor.
The only oxygen sensor in a Minor is the driver ;-)

Ah well, it's only the SE of england. The news hasn't made it to the back woods yet though.

BigG,
Thanks for the response - my wife thought it was a plot by the MMOC
Force all the modern car drivers to buy Minors, price of Minors increases dramatically! (and we're all rich?)
But if you don't know about it, then it isn't a plot....
Cheers,
Colin

I hope the petrol don't effect Moggys, I'm just going to give mine a blast for the first time for weeks after all the work I've done, need to fill up so here's hoping

I had a giggle at this too.
If the mog starts playing up.. no problem.. drain out the fuel (or pump it out) and refill it.
You gotta feel sorry for these people in the 'hyped-up' stories claiming of 000's of pounds worth of damage!
What would Macgyver do..?

I've been filling up from an affected station since it opened, no problems at all.

I filled up at my usual petrol station and drove 65 mile over the moors... no probs; mind, just as well it went ok, I'd have had a job draining it and re-filling it up there

Maybe Tesco will sell off the contaminated fuel cheaply to Minor owners! Perhaps the whole thing is cunning Terrorist Plot - bring the nation to a standstill. Except diesel cars aren't affected - unless 'modern' diesels have lambda sensors - anyone know ?

Nope, even the experimental Golf VW produced that had a catalytic converter and a diesel engine did not.

I know Peugeot's HDi's use lambda's for the fuel and engine management systems
