Running in

Hi folks
Has anyone any opinions on the type of oil to use when running in a newly reconditioned engine? My local engineers suggest a fairly low grade oil, to promote wear and the initial bedding in for the first 500 miles. My own feelings would be to cosset the engine a little, with a decent 20/50 such as Duckhams Q. What does the team think?

Use a good 20w50 and change it and the filter after 500 miles.

It's always wise to use good quality oil, I think it's false economy to use cheap non graded oil

ASDA or MORRISONS 20W50 oil is fine. Don't go with the 'low grade to promote wear' theorey - balderdash!

I use the Duckhams normally, relatively inexpensive & good quality, but am going to use a special running-in oil from one of my local suppliers for the first 750 miles or so.
