hi just finnishing welding a minor van, i need some advise on rustprofing,
the way im thinking of going about it is etch priming +2k priming +stone
chip +2k body colour, then dinatrol wax is this ok, the places i will be doing this is, inside +under cab floor, + under van floor, + under the wings +inner wings.

Isn't it stone chip before primer? I'm going for red oxide before the top coats as well. If 'Jonathon' answers this, as he probably will. believe him - he's a bodywork pro, and a good one too

Hi,
Rustmaster will do a complete waxoyl treatment for £340 + VAT, including chassis members, cavities, doors, etc, using all singing all dancing professional waxoyl + hard wax. Has anybody done it and is it money well spent?
I'm not to keen on alternative DIY waxoyl as I have no place or time to do it every year.
Regards,
Pascal

According to Rustmaster the waxoyl they apply is of superior quality than the DIY one and lasts 7-10 years. They also claim isn't not available for retail sales.
Realistic?

Interesting. What is the name of the product they use? If you get the name you should be able to Google it and find out more about it - the all-round view, if you know what I mean.
I'm using Dynax S-50 on my van (I'm spraying bits I can get to with aerosols, and the garage which did the bodywork is injecting the hollow members free as part of their job - their guarantee isn't valid without this final stage). Not for the underbody though, that's got Dinitrol on it. I'm going to absolutely fill the inner gutter seam with Dynax S-50 - I reckon that's where they rot from, and I'm going to prevent that if it's humanly possible!!

It's called Waxoyl Professional 120-4. I've checked on Google and it's a bit confusing: apparently there are two different products called Waxoyl, one made by Hammerite and the other by a Swiss company Waxoyl AG:
Hammerite (DIY version):
http://www.hammerite-automotive.com/waxoyl.htm
Waxoyl AG (professional version):
http://www.waxoyl.com/en/produkte/120-4.htm
Having read posts in various forums it looks like Rustmaster are well equipped and do a thorough job, so I think I'm going to give it a go as anything I would do couldn't come anywhere close!

I have used Hammerite Waxoyl for over twenty years on all of my assorted rebuilds and have NEVER had the return of any sort of internal rust. This relies on a thorough job when it is first done but I have seen
my ex Minor where I generously Waxoyled fifteen years ago and the sills and boxing plates are as nicely protected now as they were on the day of application. I merely take a pot of Waxoyl and a brush once a year on a warm day and paint any 'worn' areas on the underbody.

Aye, Bentleyresto joined the forum early this morning and immediately posted six glowing endorsements of one company's products. Smells fishy to me...

There is a strong smell of haddock in the bodywork section
