Anyone know what Castrol XL is? I have an old tin of it, metal, with a small screw cap which shows it's age. Must be at least 30 years old, but the oil looks clean. What is it & what is it good for-topping up the carb dashpot perhaps?
(Before anyone says it, I wouldn't dream of putting old oil in the engine itself.)

I think it was straight 40 oil - but it will be fine as long as the cap has been on the tin.
