Just wondered if anyone could tell me what the timing should be set at for a 1098 low compression engine with an new
unleaded head..
Also had to enrich the mixture to get her running nicely after the head change- is this normal?
cheers Steve

Set it as per the book, but then probably retard 1 or 2 degrees, the idea being to ensure that there is no pinking - plenty of threads on this subject.

Advance it till you hear a little pinking on hard acceleration in top gear - then retard very slightly. This is the only way to set the ignition timing for your engine. Well worth checking if the vacuum advance on the dizzy is still working. If it's not been renewed in the last 10 years - then it's likely it's not working!! Once the timing is sorted - the mixture can then be set to give best idle - and double -check with the little lift pin.
