Just bought 65 convertible.Boot lock has no keys! Handle looks almost new.

I have looked everywhere but cannot see anything.
Thanks

Hopefully it is open, and not locked!
They are cheap to replace the entire assembly including lock and keys, or alternatively you can get a new lock barrel and replace it yourself (quite tricky but not impossible).

I've got one (with key!) knocking about I think, from when i changed mine so they all match (I used to have 3 keys - one for each lock and one loack that doesn't have a key!). You are welcome to it Haggis, pm me a postal address and I'll stick it in the post to you.

I had a look last night. I have:

One boot/ignition lock with key
One boot/ignition lock without key but in better nick (I'll send this too as it occurred to me that you might be able to fashion one of the locks (or a combination of all of them) to fit your key - its all to do with the lengths/shapes of those brass wafers...)

They are both missing the spring that is for the automatic return I'm afraid (when you turn your key and it springs back), but you shoudl be able to put the one from the old one in.... when you take the old one out, be careful it doesnt spring out somewhere so you can have a look and see how it goes. It was a bit of pain to put back when i did it, as i remember, but possible!

I got the lock out of the boot handle by first removing the whole handle from the boot lid, next balancing the edge of the metal cup that goes over the lock between two slats in the work bench and then wolloping the end of the rod one with a mallet. Do the same in reverse to get it back. Ok, its a bit extreme and you dont want to do it too often, but it worked and meant not having to file down/ fettle etc.

If you need any more help just drop me a pm, I'm not briliant at explaining mechanical things as I'm short on the jargon, but if you're lucky i might draw some diagrams! ;)

Thanks Haggis! :D It'll be saturday morning for the post now as I discovered there is no post office near work.
I'm short on the jargon,
Not when it comes to Crosswords
*sigh* The good old days when i was young and free and had time to cajole people (kevin) into playing scrabble with me :D
...It doesn't mean anything being good at scrabble though; my sister is much better at scrabble than me even though she's dyslexic - cos she thinks of words and believes they could exist, while I think of them and rule them out before getting as far as looking them up in the dictionary.

Which would be cheating unless you played them first... :D

*sigh*

Sorry I forgot i had to fly to newcastle. Just got back. Think I'll stop making promises now and just get it in the post to you asap!
(hopefully tomorrow morn) ;)

scrabble dictionary: Yes my sister is a big cheat, but then so am I if she is being, so it makes the game more entertaining! Have you noticed that the official scrabble words has heaps of words which are illegal according to scrabble rules?? acronyms, abbreviations, proper nouns etc. Disgusting I call it.

Indeed. I often play against the computer, which uses the Anerican dictionary. That's even worse... Anyhow, off topic is beckoning :D

Hooray! In the post this morning, Haggis. Why do I feel like that is a major achievement? lol!

I've actually sent two sorts, cos when it came to it I couldnt remember which one is the boot lock! One of them will fit!

Have fun,
