Rust Treatment

Hi all, I'm planning to bare metal sparay my van, I was wondering if I should give a coat of rust treatmen liquid, I have one by hammerite and one by Wurth which I noticed are very same just some sort of badge engineering hehe, anyways has anyone tried this, or think its a good idea? Thanks Frank

either will do the job,spray it on then rub it down

Use a good etch primer, then epoxy primer, then top coat. I've read of folk coming to grief with rust coatings before - one guy had to re strip his car due to an adhesion problem. This topic was discussed at length on the NSRA website some time ago -

Ditto Pete, Several paints are only tollerant of the same brand being applied on top of them. Hammerite being the main one in our experience.
