I think she's drinking too much.....advice sought please!
This weeks milage....
Two trips from Worsley to Bury at 28 miles return each (on the M60 / M66), at about 55-60 mph.
Remainder of the mileage in commuting, a bit of stop start, for a total of 70 miles.
Total mileage 126. (Starting with a full tank of course.) Petrol to re-fill - 4.8 gallons. Just over 26 to the gallon....
What can I look at - I never had the old girl down as a gas guzzler!

It's about right for this time of year. Much use of choke + struggling against wind etc. Perhaps a wee bit heavy - have a look at the spark plugs - are they black (rich) or light brown (correct) ?
Hey - I've been moved! To Mechanical from General Discussion - oh well!

I would think should still be getting better than 30mpg. Check mixture, points setting as said above. Also, when was the air filter last changed- car last serviced? The last Mog owner I knew with bad fuel consumption had never changed the air filter. It was nearly blocked- result mid 20's MPG.
Air filter 16 months old. But I'll look at it anyway. Car serviced (i think) last June.

Cheers John, might get a wee oor or too to look at it this weekend. Washed the car on the way home in preparation for Farecla G3 (on the scratches).

I tell a lie, a wide bladed flat screwdriver may be useful to prise open the air filter box, unless you can prise open by hand. Air filter box is removed from carb by undoing the wing nut.
Farecla G3 is good stuff, but quite abrasive, it will take off much more paint than t-cut. Be careful you don;t go through to the primer layer.
Hey John - I is a expert air filter changer (I changed the last one!). As for the G3, i intend to put a teeny bit on and fairly quickly get it polished off again, just in case, and then take it from there.

Also John, is there a "very good" straight swap air filter for the cheapo on that is in there?

Had a look at the plugs and filter today, filter looks rather dirty, plugs look the right colour. General service now scheduled for next Saturday, will see how it goes.
(Grits teeth that the MMOC does not provide any sort of "An Introduction to Servicing Your Morris Minor" course. )
Hey ho.

Hi Graham, is there any chance of slowing down your pics, when your posts are close together there seems to be a strobe like effect from them making reading posts very difficult and giving me a headache. Cheers
Many thanks Jim, just installed it,now allows me to read the posts, rather than be distracted, by, admittedly interesting pics, but not really serving a usefull purpose on the forum.
158 miles travelled, all stop start towny stuff. To refill tank - 26.21 litres (or 5.77 gallons). Thats 27 and a bit MPG.
Hey ho - service today, let's see what next week brings.

Ok, so she has now been serviced. And been delivered back to my door while I was out. Andrew (the mechanic) always returns all of the bits he's removed...so there are the usual servicing bits, plus a full set of brake shoes.
Will take her for a 30 mile round trip shortly, but for now it's half time at the rugby and the jammy sassenachs are a-gloating. Hopefully Bonny Prince Charlie's boys can wipe the smile aff thur coupons in the second hauf!
