as I've had a lot of PMs asking me about things. I've resigned as "Trial Web Editor". Breaks my heart, as I thought I could help make the board a pleasant place to be again, but the endless attacks on me were just too much to handle. I *think* I'm remaining a mod, and I hope the club finds someone with more strength than me to do the job.

As you know BG , I'm very sorry and disapointed that you have resigned your position. The AGM 's intention was I thought, to counter possible libel action by making sure that negative comments about traders were banished. What followed however was anarchy, and the good folk who volunteered to try and apply the committies demands, were discracefully harrassed and belittled by some who had no right to do so. Now the initial squabble has died down, why should Andrew be hounded further.I have been disgusted by some postings here since the AGM which is why I have not wanted to take part in what was becoming a nasty, unplesant forum. I hope those who are responsible for Andrew taking this action are proud of themselves. Andrew you have my sympathy

Hmm - must have missed all this. Sorry to hear you have been put through this Andrew. Seems a bit harsh for an unpaid voluntary and (obviously now) thankless job ! Keep on as a MOD!

Blimey. This has, at all times since I joined in May last year, been one of the very nicest places on the web. All that's happened (publicly at least) is that some people have been irritated by the rules applied.
I hope those who are responsible for Andrew taking this action are proud of themselves. Andrew you have my sympathy
I have sympathy, absolutely, but I doubt any of the posters set out to offend any particular person. Upholding unpopular rules is always difficult, and sometimes an attack on what is being upheld feels like an attack on the upholder. I think that is what's happened here.
Obviously, that is no help the person feeling attacked, and I realise I have no visibility of anything that may have passed in private messages.

Maybe not, but if offence is felt by any individual then it is a serious matter. I would like everyone who contributed to BG's resignation to reflect on the effect of their words.

Ok, that’s enough. There is no “you lot and them” - we are all part of the same organisation. Although from the comments above it seems that we have indeed formed a club within a club, as per one of my previous posts.
Will you please stop pandering to Andrew’s ego, it’s a little nauseating, and bordering on sycophantism. If he want’s to go / resign / whatever, than that’s his choice – let him go.
I’m not aware of any personal emails that Andrew may have received – he certainly didn’t get any from me. The only personal email I received during the whole affair was from Onne, which was fairly nasty in itself.
The whole situation came about as a result of a whole host of new moderators being appointed and the immediate draconian actions that were taken on postings on a board which hitherto has worked quite well. All this without any communication with the board contributors. So the people protested and were heard (and when people protest long and loud and in numbers, it’s usually because there is something worth protesting about).
This thread is in danger of opening some wounds which I thought had been closed. They were certainly closed when Andrew was silent. Whoever wrote it was right, Andrew does possess with and charm, but like all of us, he doesn’t have it all of the time.
And, quite frankly, “those of you who have driven Andre out should reflect on your words” – I resent being spoken from that height.
