My wipers are a bit tired and sometimes go to sleep. Is there a cheap / easy way to make the motor happy again? Is there a cheap / easy replacement from another car??
thx all!

You can change the brushes in the motor. Make sure all connectiosn are good too

Brush change is good - and a general clean out and re-greasing of the motor drive helps too - but often it's the rack and wheel boxes which are partially seized - the old grease having gone all hard and horrible. They can be stripped out and cleaned and re-greased. If careful - it's possible to reassemble in such a way that the unused section of the wheel box gear wheel comes in mesh with the rack - and indeed the rack itself can be turned over to give 'new' wiper action. To do this - carefully mark the spindle against the wheel box - and then re-assemble in such a way (trial and error really) that they end up 180 degrees round from the original position. Two-speed wipers from various cars used to be fitted (I think Triumph 2000 was popular) - and Mini 2 speed motors can be fitted, but you may need to watch for the sweep angle of the motor or the blades may not sweep a great enough (or possibly too much) section of the screen.
