Well Ive not quiet lost them as I know they were in a bag, that was put into the bin and Yes the bin was collected on Tuesday!
Ive only had my morris minor sice November, Im enjoying her, but not exactly mechanicaly minded , Dont know quiet what to do, and yes let it be a lesson to all , should have got a spare cut !!!
However that doesnt help me now. are there any indications on the car as to a replacement key? lock number?
I have seen localy (Inverness) a gentleman I think his name is Huge Finney, whom travels around in a restored van but cannot find any trace of him in the phone books does anybody have any information as to where I could contact him, or is this an easy thing to replace, and I mean easy!!!
Many thanks for help from anyone
May I also add, ive never used one of these forums before so hope that am doing this right, if not many apologies Eilidh

if the locks are worn a close matching key may work

getting the lock number and a thus a correct key copy should not be too hard

The lock number can be found where you put the key in the ignition, on the face.

True for the early cars, not for later 1098cc cars. Also not much use if you're locked out!

Eilidh, what model of Morris Minor do you have and how old is it?

Please can I just ask that anyone giving Eilidh advice on how to gain access does it via a PM, so its kept off the message board for the world to see.

The doors will almost certainly unlock with just about ANY key - or even a screwdriver...certainly mine do!

If the front door and ignition locks still use the same key then chances are that the locks are original in which case BMIHT will hold the records relating to your chassis number. The key can then be obtained from one of the parts suppliers. Unless your Traveller or van was one of those built at Alderley whose records were destroyed

With a Trav - the side windows can often be slid forward/backward enough to get access.

Once you have your key number/numbers there are a few suppliers of New Old Stock FS ( and other ) type keys on Ebay, just type in " FS Keys " , i've bought a few and they are a perfect fit, even in brand new lock barrels, Good Luck !

I have a fear of parking next to a road drain and dropping my keys!
