Lay gear

Can anyone tell me or give me a link where I can find out the original part no for a lay gear for a 1098 gear box.
The number stamped on my spare is 22G232 and I want to be sure it is the correct part.

What about contacting the gearbox specialists advertising Minor Matters.

err looks like 10g150 is for the 1098

22a288 is for the 803

not sure what you have there?

found it.... that lay gear appears to be from a mini gearbox (1275)

Rob you are right , I remember I broke a Metro quite some years ago and this is one of the remains. Where did you find the part numbers?
Now, does BMC want to purchase to add to his Mini spares??

No thanks ! Got loads of gearboxes. And the laygear rarely wears anyway - it's everything else that givs the problems !!

part numbers were on esm and mgm web site

and a google search on the other part number led me to a mini supplier to identify that.

google is your friend.... but like all the wisest mystics you need to know how to ask the question to get the right answer ;-)

Actually 22g83 is the original part number for a 1098 laygear, well it is in my original parts listing book. If you want one I have a brand new genuine item for sale.

The lay shaft and it's bearings can wear - and if allowed to continue like that then the laygear can become worn as it runs 'out of mesh' with the mainshaft gears - but by then the whole box is generally beyond economic repair.
