hi appologies - but new to this-
I am currently doing a roof chopped moggy (1098) and after searching through your forums have noticed lots of different ideas re engine mods.
I have an old pair of twin su's off my old spitfire that i was going to use but majority of people say go with a single ?
Can you swap cylinder heads over from later A series engines onto my engine to increase performance (ie drop a 1275 head on)?
Hi have ordered the vizard book (the Bible) but was wondering if you had any suggestions.
Cheers

Thats correct as the later HIF 38 & 44 carbs offer similar if not better performance with better fuel consuption and less tuning problems. Yes you can fit different heads although some require modifications.
You will find Vizards book very useful and if you do a search on here you will find quite a few postings on the same subject.

You would need to find a different manifold for your carbs anyway...

Re a 1275 head: Yes they can be fitted, but modification of the block is *normally* required. Im sure someone will fill you in on this soon!

Yes - the 1275 (12g940) is absolutely excellent on the 1098 engine. Just sink the exhaust valves into the head by 40 thou to make sure they don't hit the block. HIF 38 carb on MG Metro inlet manifold is the way to go.
