Just, yet another, idea !

The current discussion about fitment of a Ford Kent engine has got me thinking.
I'm desperate for an autobox in my Minor.
I've got a 1275 Ital engine and BW65 gearbox but the matching bellhousing, flexiplate and torque converter are like "hen's hind teeth" :-(
The latest (I change my mind almost daily about something or other) idea is what about a 1300 Ford kent engine an matching autobox in a Minor ?
Anyone ever done this ?

Paul Humphries.

BTW I used to have a car called a "Salamander". It was a low production vehicle based on a Reliant Kitten chassis with 1300cc MKII Escort engine and autobox. I'd be perfectly happy with the same performance in a Minor.

My guess is it would be heavier to, hence my choice of the cross flow. They are almost as basic as the A-Series and only slightly heavier.

Just as a note, there are 2 on eBay at the moment (although manuals). One is a 1600cc and the other is a 1300cc

Not sure if they are any help to you?

I've driven a Mk11 Escort 1600 with Autobox.

Quite nippy for a 1970's auto (Ie not very) but could make for a relatively light ( I Think) set up. But at 88bhp you will need to do all the other stuff too

Would only do about 24 mpg though :o
