The Driver's handbook (AKD680H) lists the following:
Unladen weight:
2-door.......... 14 3/4 cwt. (
750 kg. approx.)
4-door.......... 15 1/2 cwt. (
787 kg. approx.)
Convertible.. 14 3/4 cwt. (
750 kg. approx.)
Traveller...... 15 3/4 cwt. (
800 kg. approx.)
My factory workshop manual lists the Maximum Towing Weight as being 600kg, if I remember correctly. Might be something stupid like 609kg, but the manual is in the garage and it's cold out there...
Assuming you got your licence after 1997 (like me), then you'll be fine if you stick to a maximum of 600kg. It's still a lot of weight for a 1098 to haul around as it is.

Workshop manual says that the 1098 Trav has a kerbside weight of 826kg and is rated for towing 609.5kg, but no information about braked/unbraked trailers.
The Camping and Caravanning Club recommend a maximum of 85% of the towcar's weight.

An unbraked trailer gross weight can be up to a maximum of 50% of the towing vehicle's kerb weight, or 750kg, whichever is the lower. So for a Minor, the unbraked trailer can be up to around 400kg gross weight - I would not want to rely on 7" drums to stop 1200kg of total moving weight!!

Im aware of the limits about trailers, and the trailer im going to be towing is braked, and the car has servo'd marina disks!
