I notice everyone has a name for their Moggy. I have yet to think of a good one, any ideas?

I based mine on the number plates - does your number plate suggest anything? And is your car a boy or a girl?:)

Why on earth should it have a name ? Call it 'Morris 1000 Traveller' - that's what it is ! If you really must give it a name - the reg looks like UMT - so call it Numpty!

Been done before but this is Morrissey.

Many moons ago a chum from the East Midlands Branch who was being pestered by his lady friend to name his cars came up with "Noname" & "Son of Noname"

The aforementioned lady had named hers Horace (comment put in especially for our Web Ed)

We have Hermione and The Lemming.

Hermione because Wifey said it had to have a girl's name and the reg starts HMA, and the Lemming because the reg starts LMG.

My previous 1963 Morris 1000 was called Desmond (went to the great scrapyard in the sky a long time ago), and the present one, a 1960 (I think) Traveller is called William. Fans of Zootime and paisley wallpaper will get my drift. But why are they both boys?

Fenchurch is named after a (female) character in the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series.

Sarah is because of the registration - SAR 951J. Apparently it was previously called Gladys.

My new '58 is called Humphrey because I thought it looked like an old man, and the registration didn't lend itself to anything obvious - PAS 649.

I know a gun dog breeder who has an affix Emanon - thats no name backwards. On the subject of names I've noticed most gundogs are called y'b******d. The funny thing is that they all look up when they are called usually its "come back y'ba*****d"

I had two names to choose from:

Margot - from the Good Life
or
Dorian: Greek name meaning "gift from the Gods"

I decided Margot, as it's not quite upto God like running fashion

This one is called Scarlett...my lad chose it (aged 8 at the time). No obvious reason.

Received a letter today containing the original bill of sale for "Umpty", also the previous owner sent me a few pics of the car with his family on holiday in 1969 down on the Devon coast. His 3 kids learned to drive in it, as well as his wife. so the name stays what it has been since 1967 "Umpty"

Mine are - Horace (mm series) Muj, (Series 2) and Mabel (son's one).
Wife's one was called Rupert, but it's long gone now - 23 years ago.

I think its fine to give Moggies names, theyve always been more than inanimate objects to me...
Our previous 58 Traveller was known as Travis - amalgamation of Traveller and Morris and sounded better than Morller! (subsequently copied by a pop band and a character on Bob the Builder...)
Then the 68 convertible came along to replace Travis (always regreted that move) and for a reason I cant recall was called Auntie Hilda.
I sold Auntie to a Member of Parliament, and my current 68 Traveller is known as Benny - why? - well he's a bit slow, often seen at crossroads and - living in a house with 4 females - I thought a bit of occasional male support wouldnt go amiss .
