Aldon Ignitor

I have problems with my Aldon Ignitor at the moment. Is there a test procedure I can do?

It all started when my engine started spluttering at low revs, but was perfectly fine at higher revs. I suspected the coil, so I put a replacement one in. Didn't solve it. Engine ran for 30sec with the new coil, then died. Since then I haven't had any spark whatsoever.

+ve and -ve on the coil are both live, so it has power.

Plugs are still the same.
Ditto for cap and arm.
Compression is 175psi on all four ( :D )
There is fuel in the tank, and the pump is working

So, any ideas before I swap back to points?

sounds like might be a ground somewhere, or a fuse blown stopping the circuit being complete.

I have checked both of them. Fuse is all right, the fuel pump is working, and that is on the same fuse.

mine failed when i put the magnetronic ignition on, i had the rotor arm mis aligned with a small dot that was on the disk, and i chased my tail for hours before i realized it. then i felt like a pillock.

Problem is that is has been working very well over the last year.
I actually found it easier to install the whole thing than changing the points.

On my dizzy I had to reduse the hight of the rotor arm as the disk was too thick and moved everything closer to the cap.
This prodused a fine dust that interupted the signal.....

Can't see that happening all of a sudden though, or was that the case in your case?

Onne has the problem been caused by the plug in your other posting or do you still need some more details.

It was the plug that caused me to think my Ignitor was playing up, so yes, it was the plug from the other thread :D
