I have been "restoring" a 1952 tourer since 1977!
Have neglected it for 10 years due to not being able to get the doors fit properly. All seems to measure up as square, have tried all manners of spacers, cutting, bashing etc but I have now almost given up.
Does anyone know someone in the Edinburgh area who could help- ie a professional restorer?

If the doors arent fitting, its likely the door gap is opening and closing which may be due to rotten sills/ floors and/or bottom of A pillar- this area can rot badly.
In the convertible I'm doing atm, there were 5 layers of patches over rust on the bottom of the front inner wing. Because it had never been repaired properly, the kidney panel and a pillar had rotted at the bottom and the door was moving.
Try looking in these areas, but first check your hinges are ok and the striker plate properly adjusted.

It is always essential to brace the Minors whilst repairing sills etc but doubly
so on the convertibles. If repairs to door posts and sills have been carried
out previously then correct refitting of the doors can be nigh on impossible.
If you jack the car up at the original central jacking point does the car bend
upwards in the middle i.e. does the door now fit better? This would indicate
either weak sill sections or that they were misaligned when re built. Failing that what exactly is the problem, B post, A post, rear lower door edge hanging down???
