MG Metro 3-2 Cast Manifold

I have just got hold of one of these as I know you can get 1 1/2" system fron Brum Minor Centre and ESM. Question is has anyone fitted one and how do they perform. I believe Cam went through a few LCB's before he got a decent one, so I thought the CI one would be stronger.

From what I recall in the Vizard book the Metro LCB style exhaust manifold (the one you've got) is nearly but not quite as good as a proper LCB - Meaning it'll probably be plenty good enough

Hmm looking at their website it seems what you do to fit this manifold is use a twin downpipe section which then mates to the exhaust in the same position as if you were using an LCB. This makes me think it's the same (Falcon) exhaust which Pyoor Kate and others have been having problems with cracking over the rear axle. That's assuming the MMC Birmingham sells the Falcon exhausts, which I'm sure somebody on here said...
Maniflow LCBs + exhaust systems seem to be of good quality, but horrifyingly expensive!

It will be fun trying to make up a suitable pipe to mate with this manifold - and go through the hole at the back of th engine bay!

Roy,
As I said earlier ESM and Minor centre in Brum sell them. I have just tried for ten minutes to put a picture or link to ESM site to show you what I mean, and I cant do it.

In theory it is an efficient way to remove the gasses but in practice is probably a nightmare to fit. The standard exhaust clamp arrangement is difficult emough but to have two of them getting in the way of each other. Yikes!

Are you sure theirs is the 2 branch system ? Not just a larger bore single branch to suit the Marina manifold ?

Does anyone know if that's Metro or Ital? I'm sure I saw a twin downpipe Ital manifold kicking around (now sadly skipped), and I don't know if it's the same as the Metro or not. Anyone looking to go that route ought to check first methinks!
I happen to have a cast all in one 1275 Metro inlet exhaust manifold sat doing nothing but slowly rusting.....

Oh how I agree! I fitted a new exhaust to my daughters MG Metro and it
was a nightmare trying to get both downpipe joints leakproof. I speak as
someone who has NEVER had to use sealant on the Minor manifold/pipe joint!

And yet I've never had a problem with sealing the downpipes on Metros, but had loads of trouble with the single downpipe on Minis, and a bit of faffing on the infamous pick up. Granted the pick up exhaust was a bodge of various old and crusty bits of pipe though.
Using the nice clamps helps immensely - The twin bolt type with proper deep grooves are far superior to the 2 half pressed and hinged things...
