2007 JOGLE

Who's done the JOGLE before? What did you think of it? Who's doing it in 2007? I've just seen this video from the 2005 run and it's got me seriously considering it:

Only trouble is I'd have to recruit a suitable co-driver.

Alex, I went last year 22hours door to door including stopping to watch England vrs Sweden at Penrith.

I'd love to go but don't think I'll risk Sophie being ready and sorted. Can I therefore offer my services as co-pilot.

We hardly went over 60 but you have to eat and sleep in the car and drive while the other sleeps.
It will be mid week near to the shortest night June 21st. I drove Bedford to Perth on the Sunday then had a quiet day driving to JOG on the Monday the run was Tuesday morning to Wednesday morning and I drove home Wednesday afternoon!!

Alternatively Bill (Judge) is planning a LEO - Lands End to Orkney run.

It was really good fun and we met up as a group in an Hotel in JOG and then for breakfast at LE. The drive was really wet, however my co driver who is not a classics man said it was the most enjoyable drive he had ever done!

I think it has been done in about 14 hours - not my style. Most ppl seemed to arrive between about 7 and 9 in the morning. It was funny on the Sunday night I was staying at a travel lodge at Perth and had to try and quess who the other drivers of Minors were at breakfast.

We met up with Ray and Cam for dinner, but didn't see them after the start until Lands End.

My co driver flew up to Inverness and I picked him up there. At the other end I had to drop him back at Gatwick before I could drive home. I think it was a shade over 2K miles by the time I got home.

The car used the best part of 2 gallons of oil, but still got there in one piece. I than swapped the engine and sold the car at the National rally to finance the rebuild of my 4 door which someone gave me when I told them I was going on the Jogle.

Yes it is fun.

Sounds great. I'm going to ask around and see if anyone else in my acquaintance is also interested in co-driving - I hope that's OK with you. Maybe I can find a few volunteers and then run a contest to pick the best one ;) It would be cool to introduce somebody who's only ever driven modern cars to the Moggy experience by doing something like this...

i live in Newquay, have a big garden if anyone wants to camp there. and also cups of tea all round for everyone.

If I can get the time, I'll be doing the LE-Ork. Whilst doing the JOGLE last year (with Cam) we came up with the idea of doing a camping week in Cornwall as another website rally.
This could either coincide with the start of the Lands End to Scotland run (to wave people off) or with the end of the JOGLE.

Bill then asked about adding a visit to the Orkney car club rally and this then became the LE-Ork.
Who knows - if the timing is right and people are daft enough (tough enough ;-) )they can do the LE-Ork followed by the JOGLE!

Hello Alex,

I can see that what I thought you were talking about and what I thought you meant are two different things. What I had in mind was the LEJOG which is an entirely different event.

My goodness what a thought, I think Ray will have to be proposed as the clubs Endurance Driver specialist if he undertakes this as well.

I've just been told that this year's JOGLE has been cancelled due to lack of interest

Now looking into the Low Earth Orbit, err I mean Land's End Orkney run instead...

Thanks Alex, I have now added you as a possible for the LEO run. Hopefully I won't have to cancel this due to lack of interest.
