Seal your indicators

I don't know if this is a problem anyone else has had. But my almost new indicator/flasher unit had been filling up with water and knackering the sidelight buld and causing horrible corrosion at the contacts. This was despite good new gaskets and the lens being sealed up.

The problem turned out to be where the inserts of metal to hold the lamps had been pushed in. They were not flush enough to stop water ingress where they are soaked by the front wheels. So removing them and sealing the gaps with silicone has solved the problem and the insides remin bone dry.

This is perhaps worth doing on any new light/flasher units as I know they can get rather rusty and damp.

I would add sealing the trafficator openings, otherwise it its equavelent to pouring water down your door pillars.

Only side effect is that it confuses minor experts when the openings aren't there :):):):)

But then they don't work :(

I just make sure that the sills can let the water out through their pre-fabricated holes.

Ahhh, where should these holes be. My sills have been replaced with fabricated panels and may have lost the drain holes. Where do you suggest I drill some holes?

At the lowest points on the bottom in a few places along their length.
