I prefer mechanical fans but as I need to more the engine forward for an Ital engine / autobox conversion there isn't enough room.
I'm following the Owen Burton conversion details that say an electric fan will be needed.
I've given up on the idea of finding something suitable in scrap yards and am going for a new Spal unit as they are cheap off eBay.
Can anyone tell me what dia fan is recommended for a 1275 engine and standard (new) Minor rad ?

Yoi might be able to get what you need from these couple of sites, I assume if space is limited you want a pusher thats in front of the rad.

1 10" fan should do you fine.

A Spal 9" fits perfectly in front of the radiator. There are 2 models, straight and curved blades. The curved blades have a higher airflow rate. I have one with a well modified 1380, no metal fan, and no problems with temperature control.

It's on a thermo switch fitted to the header tank, and cuts in at about 85°C

Looking on eBay SPAL seem to be cheapest new to buy.
I've seen a few of the straight bladed and sent a message to seller asking if they were pusher or puller.
Reply stated they were the AS model and therefore reversible depending on power connections.
Anyone know if this is correct ?

A quick google revealed this site and although the Spal ref is the same for either the A (suck) or S (blow) models. the Spal code is slighly different, so it looks like you need to get it clarified somewhere.
