I just cannot get my brake pedal to stay up, the first pump just goes to the floor board then the second pump is ok.

I've expelled air from all four wheel cylinders. Also lately I've re-adjusted the master cylinder piston setting to the 3/4 inch pedal travel as required and advised by all maintenance manuals.

I've also adjusted all 4 brake linings. All brake parts, cylinders, linings and pipes are brand new.

Anyone could tell me what else I could try to get rid of the apparent trapped air in the system?

You did bleed them in the correct order I suppose, furthest from the master cylinder 1st and finishing on the nearest.

Why is that Kevin? Well I did start from the back but I'm not sure I started from the near side or not, I would do it all again just to make sure.

Someone also said that if you lock the pedal (with a piece of wood or else) and keep it depressed as much as possible overnight, you might get lucky the next morning, comments anyone?

Its the reccommended method so that the air is not drawn from the longest run back into the shorter runs.
Also the pricepal behind the keeping pressure on the pedal is that is should enable the air bubbles to be forced to the cylinders is often used to overcome problems associated with changing to silicon fluid which is supposed to be harder to bleed, and you have nothing to lose from trying it
