Traveller rear seat timber

Just one of the 101 jobs to be done on my new Moggie is to improve the timber section at the top of the rear seat back, now these are finished in body colour is a tin of spray suitable on wood or do I need some form of preparation or what as I dont remember this ever coming up on the forum before.

Kevin, is this the bit of wood that slots down onto the bit of wood in the base when you fold the seat down?

The dark coloured bit on the top of that seat?
It was painted black on the old trav and on this one!

It was red in the old trav :p
Kevin, I think you can spray straight on to the wood, but a friend advised me to use some cellulose dope on exposed wood before painting with a cellulose or acrylic, I did it on the old truck and it seems to have worked out ok! (nones fallen off where i treated it like this)

Do you mean above the sprung part, where the sockets are to engage when the seat folds down? The bit that screws to the main seat back? If so this should be covered in vinyl material to match the seat.

Thanks simmitc on proper close inspection you are correct it is covered with vinyl, my previos one which had a black interior was just painted so I assumed the new one was the same...................
