Hello everyone

Can someone help me please.

I am restoring a 1962 2 door deluxe with 948cc engine to original spec.

What was originally fitted to the sill/rear parcel shelf? Was it just spray painted the same colour as the car or was it covered in the same colour and material as the upholstery? Mine is duotone porcelain green.

Also if it was covered with leathercloth would it have been glued to the shelf or put on a piece of hardboard to stiffen and screwed down?

Help much appreciated.

Ty

mine is a piece of hardboard covered with the seat material. i do not have duotone though so do not know what colour it would be for you, most probably the outside colour of the seat!

Is your glued to the metal shelf or self tappers please?

Usually the material is glued to the board, but the board just rests on the metal shelf and is held in place by being sandwiched between the back of the shelf and the seat back. Over the years other owners may have added screws or used glue to try and stop rattles, but not necessary if fitted properly.
