i have a chance to buy this small caravan from a mate (see pic)
althought it is too small to use as a family of 3 i thought it would make a really cool camping trailer to tow all our camping gear.

i have towed it and it seems okay

do you think it would be cool?
i was thinking of painting it to match the minor, what do you think?
if i do this, where would i get the paint from to match?

That's a very strange little thing... I love it! Who made it? Looks like an Island Plastics or possibly Reliant design.

Paint for the bottom? I would think that a good primer (that'll go over GRP) and Almond Green celulose would look a treat on that bottom panel.

I'm planning on making a similar sized micro caravan.
I used to have a Romahome camper based on the little Honda Acty pick-up so have seen what can be achieved with a small area.
My idea is to use a pick-up Truckman type top as the upper section.
Before I had the Romahome I bought two such tops and intended joining them together - with lower upside down. In fact I've still got the new double glazed windows somewhere.
This time I'm going to use just one top with a simple flat fibreglass sheet base.
I haven't thought out the full plan yet but I want it low so maybe a small "pop up" roof section to allow standing room or even have the whole Truckman top rise.
One thing is certain - it'll be detachable so it'll fit on my flat bed trailer.

I've given some thought on the Eriba Puck - a tiny two-berth caravan weighing 500kg in minimum running order.

Seems like the idea van for a Minor. I saw a 1964 model on eBay a few weeks ago, and was sorely tempted by the idea of towing a period caravan with my '65 car.

You'd want to check it very carefully indeed before laying your money down - old caravans do rot, and in different ways to old cars. For example they often have insulating materials inside double-skinned walls that soak up water like a sponge if the roof or walls leak, rotting the structure from the inside in such a way that you don't see anything obvious until it's too late.

Very basic inside, sleeping area for 2, electric hook up, gas supply

Not to sure of the make but is believed to be designed for Mini’s to tow

I have checked all the areas concerned and it seems in very sound condition inc the wooden flooring

No musty smells, as I said it belongs to a friend of mine and he would’nt sell me any rubbish and the asking price is only £200

My intention is to use it along side my 6 berth tent and converting the caravan (without spoiling it’s charm) to that it carries all my gear and once unloaded it will become the kitchen and a place for the TV to go.

£200 sounds like a great price if it's in good nick.

If you've been exposed to the virus once and your computer wasn't susceptible to it (AIUI it only affects unpatched copies of IE6), then visiting the site again isn't going to increase the risk of becoming infected. If you are still using IE I would recommend changing to Firefox or something else anyway.

I had problem with IE that couldn't be cured after an infection.
Downloaded Netscape and haven't had a problem since (last 2-3 years).

hi paul, i have now got the caravan and here are a few more pics that might help.
i loaded it up today with all the camping gear and went for a test drive and all is okay

yes it's fine and it tows ok
having said that i'm now working on another project
a morris minor camping trailer, once done i will be selling the caravan
and will post it on the forum FOR SALE so keep your eyes open

you will note that jim has put a link to a company that makes simular ones
@ a cost of £3000-00

don't worry i won't be selling mine for that amount
