Brake Pipes - Help

I have a complete set of b/pipes
but which one goes where?
The short ones are obviously the link for the front cylinders, but there are several of similar, but not the same length.
Someone must have a master list of brake pipe lengths.
I did have one from the Raynes park Morris centre, but can't find it.
2 x 290mm - front links
1 x 520mm -
1 x 550mm
1 x 760mm
1 x 1190mm
1 x 1220mm
1 x 1460mm
The problem is that some of them are nearly the same, but won't fit quite right and I don't want to get to the end and find I have one that is too short.

I've worked some of them out;
2 x 290mm - front links
1 x 520mm -
1 x 550mm
1 x 760mm rear 3way to L/H rear
1 x 1190mm
1 x 1220mm
1 x 1460mm Master cyl to rear hose
I hope the others don't matter too much.

Do you not have the old pipes to compare? I've thrown away the plan that came with the kit I fitted to Fenchurch, but from memory I think it went something like:
2 x 290mm - Front cyl to cyl links.
1 x 520mm - Front tee to front RH flexi.
1 x 550mm - Back tee to back RH cyl.
1 x 760mm - Back tee to back LH cyl.
1 x 1190mm - Front tee to front LH flexi.
1 x 1220mm - Master cyl banjo to front tee.
1 x 1460mm - Master cyl bolt to axle flexi.
You could do a dummy-run of each length with a bit of string before bending the pipes to shape.

I seem to remember that the rear unions are a different thread from the front. If that's right, it'd help narrow things down a little - see what fastens where. Somebody yell if my memory's wrong...

I don't remember them being any different, Andrew. Certainly they all used the same size spanner.

A different thread, not a different nut - hold on, I'll have a look at some books

Isn't one end UNF - and the other one not?
LATER - can't find it in any book, but I'd swear that the ones to the T piece on the rear axle (at least) are UNF - I'll carry on looking, 'cos it's too dark to go out to the shed and experiment

Don't worry Andrew I'll check it out tomorrow

Me too - I'm intrigued now

and I have to do the very same job very soon, hence having the parts to play with...

NEXT DAY Don't know if it's any use, but the T piece on the rear axle IS stamped " UNF"

I've sorted it out, Andrew. The rear union has one UNF leg to connect onto the flexible hose. and the other two legs fit the brake pipes. All the other threads are the same.
I'm not sure about the front union because I haven't found it yet, but I think the brake light switch is a taper fit so I suspect it will be a different thread to the brake pipe legs.
I emailed Bull M yeterday to ask which pipe was which, but they didn't bother to reply. (not slander just fact).

I think I have a new set down the shed and I seem to remember the pipes were marked with both length and location. If you want I can dig the info out for you....

thanks M25 that would be really helpfull - it would have helped if the supplier had labeled them.
I hoped someone would have the info.

OK, here we go. These are for a van so I believe the saloon are all the same apart from pipe no. 6. So whatever you have left over will be the saloon equivalent of this pipe which I think is part no. CBS104. I haven't physically measured these, the pipes are still nicely coiled but all info comes from the stickers on the pipes and the diagram that came with them. I think you can tie up part no's and descriptions with the ESM site apart from CBS146 (van pipe) which is listed differently for some reason.
Pipe No. Part No. Length (inches) Description
1 ---------CBS107-----12-------------FNS cylinder bridge
2 ---------CBS103-----46-------------FNS flexible hose to 4 way union
3 ---------CBS107-----12-------------FOS cylinder bridge
4 ---------CBS102-----22-------------FOS flexible hose to 4 way union
5 ---------CBS101-----49-------------M/C front to front 4 way union
6 ---------CBS146-----59-------------M/C rear to rear flexible hose
7 ---------CBS102-----22-------------ROS cyclinder to 3 way union
8 ---------CBS106-----29-------------RNS cylinder to 3 way union
If you are really worried about getting the lengths correct before you start then maybe cut some equvalent lengths of string for measuring up purposes.
Hope the above helps, I know I'd be lost without the labels although I am keeping an eye out on ebay for a decent flaring tool so that I can make my own pipes.
