Well just pulled "Lottie" off the road for jobs to be done (new wings leaking screen and AHHHH a new headlinning a nasty job so I hear) Lottie is a 56 split screen and the heater also blows warm most of the time.
I noticed that the heater hose comes directly from the rear of the block straight through the bulkhead to the heater now most books/spares pictures show a gate type valve from the block to the hose, to turn the water off in the summer, would I be right in saying that I should re fit this valve? the car was manufactured on 10th November 1955 .
You have a choice of 2 tap types, the screw down tap which you have to turn off under the bonnet and the lever type which operates via a cable inside the car. The correct one for your car should be the tap type although either can be fitted. I have the tap type on my 63 and I leave it open all year round to stop the heater matrix clogging up, I just use the lever under the parcel shelf to stop the fresh air flow so I don't get to warm in the summer.

Hi Keith, pop along to one of our branch meetings in London Colney apart from advice we also have a reasonable library of books that is available to branch members
